At this year's prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), Sileno Riserva 2020 achieved an extraordinary score of 96 out of 100, earning the coveted gold medal.

In addition to Sileno Riserva, the Decanter World Wine Awards 2024 also honored Vermentino di Sardegna Arvali 2023, Cannonau Sileno 2022, Vermentino di Sardegna Donnikalia 2023, and Ajana 2019, the red Isola dei Nuraghi.

"These successes are a source of great pride for us," comments Ferruccio Deiana, "and demonstrate that, with passion, tradition, and innovation, it is possible to create wines of the highest quality that compete with the best in the world. We are deeply grateful for this recognition and will continue to work with dedication to bring a small corner of Sardinia into the glass of anyone, anywhere." The competition saw the participation of thousands of wines from every corner of the globe, all subjected to rigorous evaluation by internationally renowned judges. In this highly competitive scenario, Sileno Riserva 2020 stood out for its complexity, elegance, and deep expression of the Sardinian territory.

According to James Suckling, who has commented on this wine on other occasions: "This Cannonau di Sardegna is ready to be enjoyed immediately, but its aging potential also makes it suitable for storage until 2025," so if stored well, you can still uncork it and impress your friends. Bottle aging will allow the wine to evolve further, softening the tannins and developing new aromatic nuances.

It pairs perfectly with traditional Sardinian cuisine, such as roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its complexity and structure also make it ideal for accompanying spicy and flavorful dishes, enhancing their characteristics and creating a unique taste harmony. It is a wine of great character: with its intense aromatic notes, full body, and chalky tannins, it represents an excellence that deserves to be discovered and appreciated. It offers a rich and complex tasting experience: on the nose, it opens with an intriguing and varied aromatic bouquet. Notes of ripe plums combine with the fresh aroma of oranges, creating a fascinating contrast. Added to these are the spicy nuances of the spice box and the delicate scent of dried flowers, further enriching the olfactory profile of this wine. In the mouth, it presents a full and structured body. The chalky tannins give it a solid structure, albeit slightly dusty and dry. This tannic characteristic gives the wine a robust personality and a persistent finish, making it particularly interesting and complex.
